Revere senior Sabrina Palermo was named the Northeastern Conference softball MVP as the league announced its all-stars on Tuesday. Marblehead?s Jon Gold, who guided the Magicians to a 16-3 record, was chosen as coach of the year.
With the bull?s eye squarely on her team?s back following last year?s Division 1 North championship run, Palermo didn?t miss a beat this season as the Patriots posted a 15-5 record and won the NEC/North title for a second straight season. She was one of six Revere players who were selected for the team.
Gold, meanwhile, lead Marblehead to a perfect conference record and the best regular-season record in his tenure with the Magicians. Marblehead also had six players selected as all-stars.
The NEC all-conference team selections were as follows:
