After a close first-half, the Pioneers were able to turn things around offensively after doing a better job in solving Mystic Valley?s (16-4) zone defense.
?Mystic Valley played tough,” Lynnfield head coach Joe Papagni said. “They played a tough zone defense. It took us until the second half to figure it out.”
Goalie Jack Ganter led the defensive effort for the Pioneers with 12 saves.
?We just want to move on (in the tournament) and we?ll be ready for our next opponent,” Papagni said.
The Pioneers will await the winner of Thursday?s quarterfinal match between ninth-seeded North Reading and top-seeded Ipswich.
We beat North Reading twice during the season,” Papagni said. “We lost to Ipswich. They?re the No. 1 seed in the tournament. We?d love the opportunity to compete against them.”
