The Marblehead girls? lacrosse team had a bye in the opening round of the Division 2 North tournament, so they had to wait until Thursday to begin their postseason journey.

Marblehead (14-4-1) will face either No. 3 Bishop Fenwick or No. 6 Ipswich on Tuesday in the semifinal round.
?I am very proud of our performance (Thursday),” Marblehead coach Annie Pugh said. “We came to play and came to win. It was a great day for Marblehead girls? lacrosse.”
The Magicians very in control right from the opening draw as they scored the first seven goals in bolting to an 8-2 lead by halftime. Pentucket would get no closer than five in the second half.
Hadley Carlton and Caroline Driscoll netted two goals each with Amanda Gregory adding a goal and an assist. Brittany Lydon made seven saves in goal for the Magicians.
In other girls? action, Beverly was unable to overcome an early deficit as Andover cruised to a 14-4 win in a Division 1 North quarterfinal.
