NSCC’s Sean Reid recipient of Student Leadership AwardSean Reid of Lynn was recently awarded the Massachusetts Community College Trustee Association’s Student Leadership Award. Before Reid graduated with a liberal arts transfer degree last month, he served as the student representative on the college’s Board of Trustees.Reid, a first-generation student, was on the Dean’s List and maintained a 3.98 GPA. In addition to being NSCC’s student trustee, Reid was an active student leader: president of the economics & finance and debate clubs; a member of NSCC’s Student Government Association; a social sciences and writing tutor at the college; and was the student speaker at the inauguration of NSCC’s fourth president. Reid’s passion and drive both in and out of the classroom earned him internships at The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and in Gov. Deval Patrick’s office.Reid plans to transfer to a four-year college to double major in economics and government and then hopes to attend law school so he can “advocate and give a voice to those who often go unheard.” Reid said, “Education has played a significant role in my life. It has given me hope that we will solve some of the world’s toughest issues – and to me hope is the most important thing in life, for without it nothing is possible – but with it, anything is.””Bestowing these awards are a great way to honor the students that volunteer their time to offer an important voice on the community college boards,” said William Hart, executive director of the Massachusetts Community College Executive Office.Grab your clubs and take a swing at All Care’s 23rd Annual Golf OpenAll Care VNA and Hospice, a nonprofit organization, will host its 23rd annual golf open, “Make Your Mark,” on Monday, June 15 at Gannon Golf Course in Lynn.
