The North Shore Navigators kept their record at .500 after splitting a pair of road games over the weekend.
On Saturday, the Navs beat the Brockton Rox, 6-2, at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton behind a strong pitching performance from Steve Xirinachs (UMass Lowell) and a three-hit day from Maxx Sheehan (Franklin Pierce). Xirinachs allowed one run on four hits while striking out four in five innings of work, lowering his season ERA to 0.87.
The Navigators recorded 13 hits in the win, and got two-hit games from Chad Martin (Bowdoin), Brandon Fischer (St. Thomas), Richie Fecteau (Salem State), and MJ Brown (Lee).
On Sunday, the Navigators traveled to Pittsfield, where they lost to the Suns, 3-2. The Navs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on Fecteau’s solo home run, but Pittsfield tied it up in the bottom of the inning. The Suns added two more runs before Sheldon Brogden (Lee) notched an RBI single to bring the deficit to one, but that’s all the North Shore offense could muster.
The Navigators return to action on Tuesday when they go on the road to play the Nashua Silver Knights.
