St. Pius V School bids farewell to 59 graduating eighth-gradersLast Friday evening, St. Pius V School bid farewell to the Class of 2015 as 59 eighth-graders received diplomas during the graduation ceremony in the church.Partial high school scholarships were presented to the following students:St. Mary’s High School: Ryan Moroney, Michaela Olabisi, Victoria Rindeiko, Dorothy Carroll, Lauren Casey, Megan Cassidy, John Maguire, Alex Pancopoulos, Sharliz Bonifacio, Matthew Bloom, Maxwell Verbeek and Derek Quatieri.Bishop Fenwick High School: Verbeek, Quatieri, Carter George, Grace Goodell, Meredith McIntosh, Bonifacio, Carroll, Casey and Cassidy.Bishop Fenwick honored George, Meghan Hazard and Sean Walsh with the Principal’s Award.Malden Catholic High School: Israel Figueroa, Quatieri, Michael Kaczmarek, Verbeek, Benjamin Kerrins, Maguire, Verbeek, Panacopoulos and Bloom.Pope John XXIII: Leslie Gutierrez, Quatieri, Madison Hoggard, Michelle Palomba and Bonifacio.Boston College High School: Verbeek.The St. Pius V Endowment Scholarship was awarded to Kenneth Nguyen, Panacopoulos and Lauren Wilkinson.Pioneer Charter School of Science graduates 53 at Faneuil HallPioneer Charter School of Science faculty, students and families gathered at the Great Hall in Faneuil Hall last Friday to celebrate the school’s fourth graduating class.The Honorable Justice Roderick Ireland spoke to the graduates about what lies ahead and how to be successful. Valedictorian Michele Marchesi of Saugus remarked about how many challenges she and her classmates faced at PCSS, but that it was worth it because of the supportive staff and friends they had there.Several students were also honored with scholarships to put toward college in the fall. Rose Lewis of Malden and Matthew Servideo of Lynn received the PTO scholarship. Kens Michel of Everett and Marchesi were awarded the Christine Magee Scholarship, in memory of a former PCSS math teacher. The newly formed Alumni Association also granted Skolle Charles of Everett and Medina Sehi of Lynn a scholarship to put toward their education.Pioneer Charter School of Science is a tuition-free, STEM-focused charter school that primarily serves the towns of Everett, Chelsea and Revere.
