LYNN – A small brush fire that broke out on a grassy area behind Mass Merchandise Mart on the Lynnway caused no injuries Wednesday, but it was a bit of a chore to extinguish, firefighters said.State Police in Revere first notified the Lynn Fire Department of heavy smoke coming from 810 Lynnway around 12:35 p.m. District Fire Chief Arthur Richard said the fire spread across 2 acres covering 1,600 feet, and took about a third of a mile of hose to reach.?The beaten path is overgrown, and we walked through it,” he said. “Our biggest problem was access to reach the fire. There was a lot of stretching of hose.”The arson unit is investigating, but Richard said the blaze didn?t appear to be suspicious.Richard said three Lynn fire engines and one Revere engine were dispatched, as were 23 Lynn firefighters and three from Revere.
