Union Hospital will be a largely empty shell in three years under a Partners HealthCare plan to shift 88-year inpatient surgical beds to Salem Hospital with emergency care in Lynn maybe – or maybe not – on Lynnfield Street. In an interview Wednesday, North Shore Medical Center President Robert Norton confirmed 88 inpatient surgical beds in the Lynnfield Street hospital will be transferred to Salem Hospital under a three-year plan.
?Emergency services will remain on that campus for the three years it takes us to construct new emergency services in Salem. We are willing to work with the city and talk to Lynn officials on the overall use of the Union campus,” Norton said. This story is developing.
