The North Shore Navigators defeated the Brockton Rox, 2-0, in a six-inning, rain-shortened game Wednesday at Fraser Field. With the win the Navigators improve to 14-8 and move back into a first-place tie with the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks.
Both of the Navigators runs came in the bottom of the first inning as Tanner Bush (from UNC Ashville) started the inning with a walk. Brandon Fischer (St. Thomas Aquinas) laced a triple to left field scoring Bush to give the Navs a 1-0 lead. Fischer later scored on a groundout by Richie Fecteau (Salem State).Navigators starter Steve Xirinachs (UMass Lowell) went six innings, giving up just three hits while striking out six en route to his league leading fourth win. He lowered his ERA to 1.24
