LYNN – A Lynn man who came to the aid of an elderly man who was being assaulted following a traffic accident was himself shot Wednesday afternoon by the assailant, witnesses at the scene said.The unidentified man who was assaulted was knocked unconscious and later taken to Salem Hospital, according to police, who added the assailant fled the scene.The incident happened on Whiting Street, off the Lynn Commons, early Wednesday afternoon, after the motorcyclist blew a tire and his bike hit the elderly man?s car, police and witnesses said.When the unidentified man got out of his car to check the damage, police said the motorcyclist assaulted him, and that he suffered severe bruises to his eyes and face.Lee Feelings, 50, went to help the man, said a witness who only identified himself as Feelings? friend. Meanwhile, another witness said, the motorcyclist left the scene and returned a short while later, on a bicycle, with a gun, and fired three shots, hitting Feelings with one of them, police said.The assailant then fled the scene again, leaving a the bicycle behind, the witnesses said.?(The assailant) said, ?Mind your business … I don?t care,? and shot him,” Feelings? friend said. “I pray Lee is going to be OK. That?s my best friend.”Feelings suffered wounds to his left side, police at the scene said, and is “expected to be OK.”Lynn Police Lt. Rick Donnelly said there was no arrest as of Wednesday afternoon. However, police released a description of the suspect, as described by witnesses at the scene.?The suspect is described as a light-skinned black or Hispanic male, thin build, 6 feet tall, and approximately 170 pounds,” Donnelly said.Several cruisers were dispatched to the scene along with the Gang Unit and Investigations Unit.Many witnesses and neighbors stood by.Donnelly said the accident remains under active investigation.Anyone with information is asked to contact the LPD at 781-595-2000.
