Baseball Roundup: Lynn strong both ways in 9-2 win over Masco

Thanks to a big day from Dayshon Anderson and a solid pitching performance from Aeydan Leydon, the Lynn 14-year old Babe Ruth all-stars grabbed a win 9-2 at Twi Field in Danvers on Sunday in the District 1 tournament.Anderson reached base four times and had three RBIs, while Leydon pitched four innings. Anthony Nikolakakis also reached base four times, scoring twice, and knocking in a run. Jake Yanakakis reached base three times and had an RBI.Babe Ruth 14sSaugus 7, Peabody 6Saugus pulled out a nail-biter at Twi Field on Sunday after six strong innings from pitcher Todd Tringale. Tringale also had a good day at the plate.Dominic Clark, Christian Correia, and Ronnie Taolo all had big days on offense to help Saugus to victory.For Peabody, Joey Zito got the start and went three innings. He was relieved by Mike Johns in the fourth, and he finished the game.Trailing 7-2 in the seventh inning, Peabody pushed across four runs to bring the deficit to just one, but couldn?t get any more.Babe Ruth 13sLynn 11, Swampscott/Nahant 5Brendan Lannon got the win on the mound for Lynn while Miguel Ramos Acosta and Matt Devin contributed offensively. The team played well defensively in addition to Lannon?s solid pitching performance.?It was an all-around team effort from top to bottom,” said Lynn coach John Nerich.
