Eastern Massachusetts will converge on Saugus

SAUGUS – Saugus will host the 2015 Eastern Massachusetts State Babe Ruth Tournament, sponsored by Wheelabrator Saugus, at World Series Park July 14-19.Qualifying teams from district and sectional tournaments will join the Saugus Babe Ruth 15-year-old All-Star team in this pool-play tournament.Admission to this year’s tournament will be free for all attendees because of Wheelabrator’s sponsorship.”We very much appreciate Wheelabrator’s sponsoring the state tournament,” said Glen Davis, president of Saugus Babe Ruth. “Wheelabrator’s ongoing involvement in the community is commendable and we are fortunate to be a recipient of the company’s generosity.”The renewable energy company has been a partner in Saugus for 40 years, supporting numerous organizations and events. Most recently Wheelabrator Saugus donated $5,000 to build the softball field next to the Belmonte Middle School.To kick off the tournament on July 14, Wheelabrator Saugus Plant Manager Eric Lucier will throw out the ceremonial first pitch with Environmental Manager Mark Grady serving as catcher.
