LYNN – Four people were transported to Union Hospital for minor injuries Tuesday in a two-car crash, in which a van crashed into a homeowner?s fence at the corner of Laighton and Washington streets.According to Lynn Police Lt. Lucas P. Dean, an SUV failing to stop on Laighton Street hit a van driving down Washington Street at 5:57 p.m. The SUV subsequently pushed the oncoming van into a fence at 104 Washington St.Dean said the four victims inside the van, which had Canadian plates, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The passengers in the SUV weren?t injured, police said, but the driver was cited for running the stop sign.?The truck was going straight and didn?t see the stop sign,” said Dagoberto Reyes, a resident of 104 Washington St. “The driver said trees were covering the stop sign. (The SUV) was also leaking fluid.”Reyes said he wants the City Hall traffic division to install a guardrail and two traffic lights in front of his home, as cars have crashed into his fence four times. Reyes pointed to the house across the street, which has a guardrail in front of the home.?The metal is heavy-duty and would help prevent more crashes into my fence,” Reyes said. One block of Washington Street was blocked off for an hour and traffic was backed up significantly.
