LYNN – The driver of a truck that crashed into a telephone pole Friday afternoon on Euclid Avenue walked away with no injuries, police and witnesses said.Lynn Police Lt. Rick Donnelly said the driver, a 19-year-old male who does not live in Lynn, was traveling up Euclid Avenue when traffic in front him came to a stop.?The driver hit his brakes and skidded into the telephone pole, knocking it down,” Donnelly said.According to Peter “Pete” Allen, a driver for Fleming Towing, the driver, the only occupant of the truck, walked away from the scene in good condition. The pole was ripped out of the ground, slanted, and National Grid arrived on scene to repair the pole soon after.The vehicle has extensive front-end damage, Donnelly said. Allen estimated the driver was traveling at least 40-45 miles per hour for the truck to rip the telephone pole out of the ground. Donnelly said the air bag deployed.?It could have been much worse,” Allen said.A male, who lives at 179 Euclid Ave., said the area in front of his home is a common spot for accidents.?Within the past 12 years, there have been three to four accidents in front of my house, and a dozen accidents in this immediate area,” he said.
