July 11, 2015 by Tyler Alicudo

Seth Moulton won a seat as the congressman from the 6th District of Massachusetts with a vow that improving the way the United States deals with its veterans would be a top priority.Toward that end, Moulton on Friday announced that he will begin accepting applications for a position within the district for eligible disabled veterans sponsored by the Wounded Warrior program. The position was established to give veterans opportunities within the House of Representatives. The Wounded Warrior Fellow will work out of Moulton’s office and be responsible for assisting veterans from the 6th District so they can get the support they need.”Serving our community’s veterans is a top priority of mine,” said Moulton. “The Wounded Warrior program gives our veterans valuable assistance in their transition from military to civilian life, while also enabling them to continue serving our country.”I am thrilled to hire a Wounded Warrior Fellow for my office and look forward to expanding our veterans service operation,” Moulton said. “After all, there is no better advocate for a veteran than another veteran.”The position is for a caseworker who would be responsible for facilitating and coordinating responses to a wide range of requests received from constituents in Moulton’s office. By acting as facilitators, ombudsmen and in some cases advocates, district caseworkers help constituents interact with administrative and government agencies, Moulton said.To be considered eligible, applicants must have served on active duty since Sept. 11, 2001, have a 30 percent or greater service-connected disability rating and less than 20 years of service.Applicants must also submit a copy of their discharge papers and a Veterans Administration letter confirming that they have at least a 30 percent service-connected disability rating.Moulton, a 2001 graduate of Harvard University, served four tours of duty in the Iraq War as a U.S. Marine. Between those tours, he earned his master’s degrees in business and public administration in a dual program at Harvard.Moulton campaigned for congress stressing the issues of health care for veterans.
