Parks and Rec basketball

The Lynn Parks and Recreation Department’s summer basketball league continued on Thursday at Breed Middle School.
In the elementary games, the Lynn Firefighters defeated William Trahant Roofing, 37-31. Trahant’s Ali Barry was the leading scorer with 16 points, and Jason Asemota netted 13 points for the winning team.
The Lynn Teachers narrowly bested D and R General Contracting, 46-44. Tahj Purter was the day’s overall leading scorer with 26 points in the losing cause. Rondell Brathwaite Jr. scored 11 for the Lynn Teachers.
In the middle school games, Councilor Buzzy Barton’s team was topped by Lazy Dog, 43-34. Abduel Barry had 16 points for the winning team, while Claudius Williams scored 12 for team Barton.
R. F. O’Sullivan’s team defeated James Lynch Insurance, 58-50, with Tito Tevarez scoring 21 for the winning team. Edison Howard racked up 16 points for James Lynch Insurance.
In an exciting double overtime contest, Solimine Funeral topped Columbia Insurance, 72-68. Melvin Nieves (Solimine) and Calvin Johnson (Columbia) both scored 19 points.
Finally, John’s Fuel topped Neal Price, 88-83, in a high-scoring showdown. Josh Lopez scored 21 points for John’s Fuel, while Anthony Filfa netted 23 points for Neal Price.
