How to hold the golf club
I know a lot of people who have played baseball before get very comfortable with holding the golf club in the palm of their hands. So I try to dispel that right out of the gate and get people to hold the golf more into the fingers of their hands.
For a right-handed player, I always start with having the golf club in your left hand, trying to hold it more in your fingers, so that if you were to look straight down, you could see the first two knuckles on your left hand — your index and middle finger.
And then as best as possible, I try to have them join their right hand to their left, having their hands connect in some way, shape or form, and then making sure that when they hold the golf club, again in their fingers, that the V between their index finger and their right thumb goes up toward the right shoulder.
If we’re holding it properly, both of the Vs in your index fingers and thumbs are going to go up toward your right shoulder.
