SAUGUS – The town of Saugus is beginning its annual street paving program, with road improvement projects taking place in several areas, Town Manager Scott Crabtree said Monday.Work includes pavement milling, overlay paving and roadway reclamation work. The project, which began last week, should be completed by Sept. 15, depending on the weather, Crabtree said.”Each year, the Department of Public Works is diligent about maintaining and improving our roads that worsen over the winter season,” said Crabtree. “Their efforts ensure that we continue to provide Saugus residents with safe, reliable transportation routes.”The paving project will affect the following areas, though not necessarily the entire length of the roadway listed: Lincoln Avenue at Ballard Street, Essex Street fire station, Central Street from Prospect Street to the Saugus Center rotary (including the rotary), Granite Street, McCollough Road, Walnut Street from Elm Street to the Lynn line, Magnolia Street, Ferndale Avenue, Lewis Lane, Guard Street Extension, Sweetwater Street.During construction, parking will be limited in the work zones, Crabtree said.
