Saugus’ Panetta shines at pageantSabrina Panetta, 15, of Saugus received 11 awards at the National American Miss Massachusetts State Pageant in Springfield. Panetta competed in the Junior Teen age division against 53 girls from across the state.She won an award for talent, for a dance she choreographed; Miss Personality, which is chosen by the other competitors; and the Volunteer Service award.”I really enjoyed helping out with the last Saugus clean-up day,” said Panetta. “I’m also looking forward to volunteering again for the Breakheart Fall Festival. I’m a member of the Saugus River Watershed Council and the Saugus Action Volunteers for the Environment, and I’m hoping that I can help with the bicentennial anniversary of the incorporation of the Town of Saugus.”Panetta also made a speech about facing your fears and won a spokesperson award.”I spoke on how each person has their own fears that they need to deal with and try to overcome,” she said. “My fear was public speaking in front of a large audience. I was thrilled that I was not only able to face this fear, but I won a trophy in the process.”This was the fifth time that Panetta was chosen as a state finalist. She received six invitations to compete in the national competition in November.
