Salem advances to Gallant championship

Salem topped Beverly, 8-3, on Monday evening at O?Grady Field in Salem to advance to the final of the Gallant youth baseball tournament.
Jake Miano got the start for Salem and got it done on both sides of the ball, limiting Beverly to three runs over six-plus innings and helping his cause with, a single, a double, scoring Salem?s first run of the game and driving in a run.
Austin Foglietta had the biggest hit of the night for Salem, delivering a bases-loaded double and scoring on a wild pitch to break the game open, giving Salem an 8-2 lead in the fifth inning. Guillermo Pimental also had an RBI single for Salem.
Eric DePiero led Beverly?s offense, smacking an early two-run double which, at the time, gave his a 2-1 lead.Salem will take on Danvers on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and will have to beat Danvers twice in order to claim the title.
