PEABODY – On Thursday, Sept. 24, Pope Francis will become the first leader of the Holy See to address a joint meeting of Congress. This historic event will be among the most prominent stops for Pope Francis on his six-day tour of Washington, D.C., New York, and Philadelphia. In order to make access to the Pope’s speech as widely available as possible, U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton will hold a lottery to distribute tickets to the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, where Pope Francis’ address will be broadcast on several large video screens.”Pope Francis is an inspiration to me and many Americans,” Moulton said. “Everyone in northeast Massachusetts should have the opportunity to be part of this historic moment. So, I hope every resident of the 6th District will go to my website, enter the lottery, and get the chance to see Pope Francis’ speech before Congress.”Constituents are invited to visit www.moulton.house.gov/papal-visit-lottery or call 202-225-8020 to enter the lottery. The deadline to enter the lottery is Aug. 31, and the drawing will occur on Sept. 1. Due to an extremely limited number of tickets, constituents may request no more than four passes. Travel and accommodations will be at the winners’ expense.
