LYNN – There will be a reunion and record hop Saturday, Sept. 26 at St. Michael’s Hall for all graduates of Lynn Trade High School from 1948 through 1971.Lynn Vocational School opened in 1945, and the first class with 70 students graduated in 1948.Then in 1953 the school’s name was changed to “Lynn Trade High School.” A total of 23 classes went to the old school on James Street. The largest class, in 1964, had 109 students, and the smallest, in 1953, had 37.The last class graduated in 1971 with 79 students and then the school became the Lynn Vocational and Technical Institute at its new location on Neptune Boulevard. Over the years there have been very few class reunions.The doors to this one will open at 4 p.m. and the music from the 1950s and ’60s by disc jockey Jake Hawes will start at 5 p.m. for dancing until 9.Those who go are urged to bring their own snacks, and perhaps some to share at their tables. Attendees can purchase hot dogs and ice cream, and the coffee is free.The Lynn Trade High School cake will be cut and served at 7 p.m. Name tags will be provided to help you find your old classmates in the crowd and the disc jockey will help get groups together for pictures.St. Michaels Hall is at 25 Elmwood Ave. in Lynn near the Bennett Street gate to GE. There is ample free parking.
