Restaurant stabbing suspect is set for arraignment today

PEABODY – A 23-year-old Salem man is to be arraigned today in Peabody District Court on charges of stabbing a fellow employee at P.F. Chang’s at the Northshore Mall to death Saturday evening.According to the Essex District Attorney’s office, Elivelton Dias, 38, of Salem, died at Salem Hospital after being stabbed in the back in the kitchen area of the popular restaurant.Peabody Police received a call at 5:41 p.m. reporting an assault at the restaurant. When they arrived, they found Dias suffering from the stab wound. He was transported to Salem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.According to the DA’s office, initial witnesses said the suspect, Jaquan Huston, fled the restaurant after the attack. He was quickly apprehended at his home by Salem Police.According to media reports, Dias trained new employees at the restaurant, and his wife had just delivered their first child last week.
