3-year-old badly hurt after being struck by car

LYNN — A 3-year-old boy was struck by a car driven by an elderly woman on Franklin St on Wednesday afternoon. The boy was with his 14-year-old brother and ran into the street just as the woman was turning onto Franklin St. from Western Ave, according to Lt. Glenn Dunnigan.Officer Ron Brown was working on detail nearby and was waved down to administer first aid, Dunnigan said.?He called in and gave updates as they responded to the scene,” Dunnigan said. “The child was conscious, alert, and crying.”The child, who is from Lynn, was transported to Mass General Hospital where he is in critical but stable condition and is suffering from non life-threatening injuries. His injuries include a broken femur that needed to be reset, Dunnigan said.
