Saugus election season begins

SAUGUS – Local politicians are getting ready to put their names on the ballot for the upcoming town elections, which will be held Tuesday, Nov. 3.Nomination papers became available at the Town Clerk’s office on July 20. Possible candidates need to collect the required number of signatures by Sept. 15 in order to become candidates for the election.Candidates running for the Board of Selectmen, School Committee and Housing Authority are required to each collect 50 signatures from registered voters. Town Meeting members are required to gather 10 signatures of registered voters from their own precinct.Many have already begun obtaining nomination papers from the town clerk.As of Wednesday, those vying for a seat with the Board of Selectmen include Matthew A. Canterbury of 17 High St., James M. Ravagno Sr. of 7 Morton Ave., Robert J. Cox of 5 Bayfield Road, Paul H. Allan of 80 Winter St. and Richard William Garabedian of 846 Broadway LT60.Allan was one of four selectmen recalled last March in a special election.Incumbent selectmen Jennifer E. D’Eon of 34 Myrtle St., Jeffrey V. Cicolini of 27 Beachview Ave., Scott A. Brazis of 6 Cave Rock Road, Mark D. Mitchell of 3 Lisa Lane and chairman Debra C. Panetta of 1 Bellevue St. have all also submitted a written notice to the town clerk declaring they want to run for re-election.Possible School Committee candidates include Judith A. Worthley of 35 Juniper Drive, Peter Z. Manoogian Sr. of 50 Ballard St., Linda N. Gaieski of 7 Arrowhead Drive, Thomas R. Whittredge of 17 Hood St. and Joseph S. Malone of 21 Myrtle St.Incumbent members Arthur Grabowski of 66 Denver St., Vincent Serino of 15 Foster St. and Jeanette E. Meredith of 15 Dale St., have also decided to run for re-election.Peter F. Frontiera of 613 Laurel Towers and Nicholas William Melanchook of 44 Boulder Road have taken out papers to run for spots on the Housing Authority.There are 10 possible candidates for Precinct 1 Town Meeting members: Richard William Garabedian of 846 Broadway #60, Sherri Raftery of 41 Newhall Ave. #202, Christopher C. Aversa of 60 Summer St., Stacy Ann Billingsley of 32 Saville St., Joyce C. Rodenhiser of 3 Cronin Road, Christopher R. Jones of 4 Apple Lane, Ronald W. Witten of 15 Vine St., Chester A. Stentiford of 47 Newhall Ave. #208, Marc C. Magliozzi of 41 Summer Drive and Ann Devlin of 36 Pleasant St.Precinct 2 currently has six possible candidates including Christine M. Moreschi of 5 Western Ave. #1, Stephen D. Sweezey of 58 Western Ave., Thomas A. Falasca of 65 Saugus Ave., Stephanie A. Puracchio of 47 Clifton Ave., Peter A. Rossetti Jr. of 6 Summit Ave. and Robert James Camuso Sr. of 27 Eustis St.William B. Stewart of 12 Grandview Ave., Richard E. Thompson of 18 Laconia Ave., Stephen W. Murphy of 22 Overlea Ave., Shannon L. Conners-Burke of 5 Rhodes St., Paul H. Allan of 80 Winter St. and David Cottam, 2 Stanton St., are possible candidates for precinct 3.Precinct 4 possible candidates include Robert J. Cox of 5 Bayfield Road, Thomas R. Whittredge of 17 Hood St., William L. Leuci of 35 Wilbur Ave., Albert J. Dinardo of 199 Essex St. and Stephen N. Doherty of 198 Essex St.For precinct 5: Cynthia Anne Fordham of 10 Fabens St., Ronald Mark Wallace of 54 Magnolia St., Hope W. Lonstein of 10 Fabens St., Pamela J. Goodwin of 85 Hobson St., Laura Groark of 5 Fairchild Ave., Joshua L. Dellheim of 5 Evergreen St. and Betty Ann Sullivan of 87 Bow St.Precinct 6: Matthew A. Canterbury of 17 High St., Richard Christopher of 6 Catalpa St., Jean M. Bartolo of 47 Jackson St., Joseph Attubato of 76 School St. and William S. Brown of 90 School St.Precinct 7: J.
