Saugus school authorities lifted a 50 minute high school lockdown at 8:20 Tuesday morning. After determining a report of a student with a knife was unfounded.
The lockdown was called after police informed school officials that a student was opening and closing a knife on a school bus. Saugus High School principal Michael Hashem said, “morning bus drop-offs at the school had already occurred, prompting school officials to order the lockdown, while an investigation commenced.”
“They determined it was not a high school bus,’ said Superintendent Matthew Malone.
Hashem and Malone said police were continuing to investigate the bus report.
“The good news is we responded well,” Malone said.
