REVERE—Revere Police arrested five men for three separate incidents over the past week, including a home invasion and armed robbery.
William Mackin, 48, of Revere, was arrested and charged with a home invasion after turning himself in to Revere Police on Thursday, Dec. 17, according to police.
Mackin was charged with being involved in a violent Quincy home invasion earlier this month, which involved a pregnant woman being tied up, Revere police said.
Mackin was the second Revere man to be arrested. Kevin Murphy was arrested last week by Quincy police, Revere police said.
Revere police said Mackin agreed to turn himself in to avoid any confrontation with the police due to local media coverage.
On Thursday, Dec. 17, Revere police responded to an armed robbery in the area of Beach Street and North Shore Road. During the incident, the victim, a 23-year-old Revere man was allegedly beaten and struck with what is believed to be the handle of a knife, Revere police said.
According to police, the victim reported the three suspects fled the scene in a local taxi, with the taxi company reporting to police that they had picked up three males in the area, with one of those men exiting the taxi on Mahoney Circle.
The other two suspects continued onto Everett where Everett Police stopped the taxi. The victim was transported to Everett, where he identified the two men. Revere and Everett police arrested the two suspects identified.
Shawn Smith, 22, of Everett was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and armed robbery on Thursday, Dec. 17.
Mario Mestanza, 19, of Woburn, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and armed robbery on Thursday, Dec. 17.
During a follow-up investigation, detectives identified a third man, Nicholas Turco. Turco, 21, of Revere, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and armed robbery on Tuesday, Dec. 22.
On Monday, Dec. 21, Revere police responded to a fight on Winthrop Avenue. Police identified a small group in the street and located two parties hiding in the rear of a residence, Revere police said.
Jason Catanzaro, 24, of Revere, was arrested and charged with trespassing on Monday, Dec. 21.
Brian Nevils, 33, of Lynn, was arrested and charged with trespassing and possession to distribute a Class D drug on Monday, Dec. 21.
Officers had discovered Nevils had several bags of marijuana, $1,500 cash and two cell phones, which added the additional drug charge, Revere police said.
