SAUGUS — Two women were robbed at a Saugus McDonald’s Sunday morning, State Police Trooper Matt Guarino said.
A 22-year-old woman, of Dorchester, called state police barracks at 5:25 a.m. Sunday stating she was being robbed by a male party at a McDonald’s, located on Route 1. The incident was described as a strong-arm robbery with the male party walking up to them, demanding cash and an iPhone, Guarino said.
Her friend, a 20-year-old woman from Douglas, was with her during the incident and was allegedly choked by the man who committed the robbery. The man was later identified as Lesly Mulave, 24, of Lynn, Guarino said.
Following the robbery, the two women jumped in their motor vehicle and followed Mulave, who took off in a 2010 Nissan Murano. During their pursuit, Mulave allegedly pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the women, Guarino said.
The women stopped their pursuit after the firearm was shown, but state police were able to stop Mulave on Summit Street in Peabody and arrest him, Guarino said.
Mulave was arrested and charged with larceny over $250, but other charges related to the choking and firearm, which was recovered from the vehicle, are likely, Guarino said.
“The investigation is continuing and there may be other charges,” Guarino said.
