LYNN — A 19-year-old local man was treated late Monday night at Salem Hospital after being shot in the back of his right thigh at South Common and Blossom streets.
The injury is not believed to be life-threatening, said Police Lt. Richard Donnelly.
The man was shot as he stood next to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church at 11 p.m. The man was with two other males when the shooting occurred.
“They heard pops — two or three — and saw their friend was shot,” Donnelly said.
He said the men saw three males standing in the parking lot behind the church, but the victim did not see who shot him. Donnelly said the shooting is under investigation. The parking lot borders the 94-apartment Marian Gardens complex.
Donnelly did not immediately identify the shooting victim.
