LYNN — State Rep. Robert Fennell will start his job as Water and Sewer Commission deputy director Feb. 8, Commission Director Daniel O’Neill said Monday.
The commission voted Dec. 14 to hire the 20-year member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives for the $119,000 a year job.
The deputy director’s job description includes responsibilities such as labor relations and general human relations duties for the quasi-independent agency responsible for the city’s water and sewer systems.
“He brings years of strong community commitment and service,” O’Neill said.
Fennell attended the Jan. 4 city inaugural ceremony and said he still needs to sign an employment contract with Water and Sewer and said he has not finalized a date for leaving the House.
He will recuperate from hand surgery prior to starting work at Water and Sewer.
