Lynn/Winthrop/Saugus girls beat Medford

The Lynn/Winthrop/Saugus Bulldogs defeated Medford, 4-1, on Wednesday night at Larsen Rink to improve their record to 6-4-1 on the season.

Kelsey Griffiths and Katie O’Shea each scored a goal and had an assist in the win. Sophie Leray and Ashley Miles added the other two goals for the Bulldogs, while Olivia Shkliew and Mia Price each recorded one assist.

Bulldogs’ goalie Gretchen Howard made 17 saves in the win.

“I think we played a really good game on all fronts tonight,” said Bulldogs coach Anthony Martucci. “Now we just have to continue that momentum going forward.”

St. Mary’s 3, Beverly 1

The Spartans moved one step closer to a .500 record on Wednesday night with a win over Beverly on the road.

Sixth-grader Aylah Cioffi put St. Mary’s (5-7-3) on the board first with a goal in the second period. Eighth-grader Nadia Plouffe added a goal near the end of the second to extend the lead. Goalie Emily Stephenson tallied 23 saves for the Spartans.

Beverly (10-4-0) got a goal from McKinley Karpa on an assist from Brittany Foster to pull within one, but that was as close as the Panthers could get. The Spartans added an empty-net goal with under 30 seconds remaining to seal the win.

BOYS’ HOCKEY

Marblehead 6, Beverly 1

The Magicians have still not been beaten this season after a solid win at home over Beverly. Drew Cioffi scored two goals for Marblehead (13-0-1), while Tim Kalinowski had one goal and two assists and Braden Haley had three assists. Andrew McGurrin and Owen Picariello each added one goal and one assist as well, and Paul Duffy scored a goal late to cap off the scoring. Aidan Gillis and Colin Daly each recorded one assist.

For the Panthers (3-6-3), Rocky Pisa was the lone goal scorer.

Swampscott 4, Revere 3

Mike Johnson scored two goals and Steve Santanello had three assists as the Big Blue moved one step closer to a state tournament berth on Wednesday night. Louis Olivieri had a goal and an assist for Swampscott (9-7-0) and Peter Doyle added the fourth goal. Dante Ceccarelli had two assists and Andrew Dove had one.

With the loss, Revere falls to 5-6-2.

Peabody 3, Danvers 0

Ethan LeBlanc scored two goals on the night as the Tanners (8-3-2) shut out Danvers on Wednesday afternoon. Danny Pratto added the third goal for Peabody, while Nolan Shaw and Tim January notched one assist each. Goalie Aaron McDonnell recorded 22 saves for the Tanners in his fourth shutout of the season.

Danvers (2-8-3) had a number of opportunities, drawing four penalties on the night, but the Falcons could not capitalize.

Winthrop 3, Saugus 1

Brendan Patterson had the lone goal for Saugus off an assist from Nick Landry. With the win, Winthrop improves to 7-5-3 on the year, while the Sachems fall to 1-9-2 with the loss.

Triton 6, Lynnfield 2

The Pioneers fall to 6-4-2 with the loss on the road.
