LYNNFIELD — Love is the muse in Lynnfield.
In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, Muse Paintbar is offering a weekend packed with Couples’ Nights and valentine-themed paintings.
Muse is located at 1130 Market St. The paint bar opened last month on Market Street in Lynnfield and held its first session Jan. 26. There are a total of 14 locations across the East Coast, including four in Massachusetts.
Muse allows guests to create a painting with detailed guidance from a local artist. Meanwhile, guests can enjoy beer, wine and appetizers designed to be easy to eat with one hand while painting with the other.
This weekend’s five valentine events range from two-part couples paintings to single love-themed paintings.
“We have a range of options for Valentine’s Day,” said Stan Finch, president and co-founder of Muse. “We have sessions that started (last night). We have a couple of options (today) and a couple on Sunday, as well.
“The one tonight is what we call a couples painting,” Finch said. “One person will do half of it and the other part of the couple will do the other half. When you put (the two canvases) together, it forms one kind of bigger painting.”
Tonight’s painting is called “Red and White” and the session will begin at 7:30 p.m., he said.
“Half of the wine glass is red wine and the other half is white wine,” Finch said. Either half is painted on a different canvas. “When you put it together, it shows one glass with (both) red and white wine.”
Finch said the “Red and White” painting has proven to be a popular choice.
“Especially if couples frequently have battles over which wine to drink,” he said.
A free glass of prosecco will be provided to each painter at tonight’s event for a champagne toast to kick off the session.
This afternoon at 3:45 there will be an individual painting session. Participants will create the popular “Love Tree” painting, which has branches winding into the shape of a heart.
“It’s inspired by a real tree,” said Finch. “It’s shaped like a heart and we sort of embellish it. There’s a sunset in the background.”
Each person does their own painting and can follow along step-by-step or make variations to the painting to make it unique, he said.
On Sunday a “Swinging Birds” painting session will be held at 1 p.m. At 5 p.m., customers will paint “Two Trees, One Heart,” which can be done alone or with a date.
Finch said he recommends arriving about half an hour early for each event.
Muse Paintbar will offer a Family Day Feb. 28 at 3 p.m., during which children and adults can create the “Valentine on Ice” painting. Family-friendly daytime sessions will also be made available next week for the school break, Finch said.
“The concept is designed for kids who are a little older,” he said. “Probably 10-plus, but younger kids can go and paint a version of what we’re doing, if they have the patience. It’s about a two-hour class.”
The classes will be offered Feb. 16 and Feb. 18 at 1 p.m.
“People will oftentimes feel like they can’t come and enjoy themselves because they don’t have an art degree of a lot of experience, or are just not naturally artistic,” Finch said. “That’s just not true. We have fantastic artists who walk everyone through it. People with a wide range of artistic abilities can really go and enjoy themselves.”
Sessions can be booked by going to the Muse Paintbar website, www.musepaintbar.com and selecting the Lynnfield location. Guests can scroll through the online calendar to view the paintings offered each evening and sign up online.
