Fourteen-year-old Mitchell Robson, of Marblehead, made it to the final round of the Scripps National Spelling Bee and finished seventh.
Robson successfully spelled the words piqueur, formatore, nagelflun, and pentecostys in the first round of the finals.
As the final round began to heat up, Robson spelled esquisse correctly, but was stumped by Wehrmacht, the name for the German unified armed forces from 1935 to 1946.
Before descending from the stage, he took the opportunity to thank his grandmother.
