The Marblehead girls tennis team wrapped up their regular season, and finished undefeated in the Northeastern Conference, with a 3-2 win over Beverly Thursday.

Winners for Marblehead were third singles Meagan Hanratty (6-2, 6-0), first doubles Lily Frontero and Sammi Gilberg (7-5, 6-2), and second doubles Simone Likterov and Linda Schellenberg (6-3, 6-4).

The Magicians finish the season with a 19-1 record and now await their seeding in the state tournament.

Lynnfield 4, North Reading 1

The Pioneers closed out the regular season with a solid win over a good North Reading team on Thursday afternoon.

Lynnfield got singles wins from Sarah Mezini in the first match, 6-1, 6-1, and Katie Nevils in the second match, 6-1, 6-1. In doubles play, the team of Olivia Skelley and Camie Foley took the first match, 6-2, 6-1, and the team of Hayley Timmons and Katie Nugent took the second match, 6-0, 6-1.

The Pioneers finish the season with a 16-1 record and now await their seeding in the Division 3 North tournament.

BOYS TENNIS

Beverly 3, Marblehead 2

The Panthers finished their regular season with a victory over Marblehead, handing the Magicians their first loss. Their winners were Peter Colletti at first singles (6-1, 6-0), Dylan LeBlanc at second singles (6-2, 7-5), and Colin Oliver and Frederico Poncini at first doubles (6-2, 6-3).

The Panthers finish the season undefeated at 15-0 and await their seeding in the Division 2 North tournament.

BASEBALL

Salem 13, Somerville 2

The Witches (10-9) got help from Anderson Bueno, who pitched five innings to pick up the win. Matthew Silva went 2-for-4 with four RBI, while Elny Cruz went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Reuben Byers went 1-for-3.

St. John’s Shrewsbury 11, St. John’s Prep 0

Despite the loss, the Prep’s Jake Sanderson had a strong performance on the mound, coming in relief of Chris Murphy in the fourth inning and allowing just two hits over the final three innings. Chris Francoeur went 2-for-4, while Sean McGinnis went 2-for-3.

SOFTBALL

Winthrop 4, Triton 3

It was a nail-biter in this non-conference matchup, and the Vikings won in the ninth inning on a suicide squeeze, laid down by Jessica Martin. Maddie Fainga’a scored the game-winning run.

In what coach Dave Guffey called “a well-played game,” Taylor Thomas went the distance on the mound, allowing just one earned run on four hits and two walks, striking out two.

Fenwick 6, Shawsheen 3

Pitcher Alexcea Glynos had an outstanding performance for the Crusaders (8-10), allowing three hits, two walks, and striking out three batters to pick up the win. Hannah Hollow and Mikayla Porcaro both went 2-for-4 with one run and two RBI for Fenwick.
