LYNNFIELD — As the fatal shooting at a house party Sunday remains under investigation, officials said they will examine rules around short-term home rentals.

Details about the shooting remain scarce. Lynnfield police referred calls about the death of 33-year-old Keivan Heath of Randolph to the Essex County District Attorney’s office who declined comment.

There were no arrests as of late Monday afternoon, according to the DA’s office.

Police received the call about the shooting around 3 a.m. on Sunday. The 8 Needham Road home had been leased over the weekend by its owner, Alex Styller.

Selectman Christopher Barrett said town officials will likely look at weekend rentals of homes in the town.

“This is really just a unique occurrence in Lynnfield,” he said. “Regulating house parties and events is a challenge in any community and has not been a problem in Lynnfield. We will look into the situation and do what is right for everyone.”

On Sunday, Styller, who is selling the 11-room European Contemporary, four-bedroom, five-bath house for $3.3 million, told reporters he had rented the house numerous times over the past year without issues.

Barrett praised the efforts of Lynnfield’s first responders over the weekend. In addition to the fatal shooting, there was a fire on Main Street.

“The first responders went above and beyond,” he said.

The police and fire departments were well equipped to tackle two difficult situations within a day, he said.

“Those were big city events, not something you typically see in Lynnfield,” Barrett said.
