PALM COAST, Fla. — Dr. Lawrence G. Alexander, of Palm Coast, Fla., died on May 23, 2016 at the age of 97. Prior to his retirement, he practiced Orthodontics in Lynn, while maintaining residence in Swampscott.
Dr. Alexander was born in Boston and was the son of the late Lewis and Pauline Alexander. He was a graduate of Boston Latin School, Harvard College, Tufts School of Dental Medicine and Tufts Graduate School of Orthodontics. He was associate professor at Tufts and at Boston University where he assisted in establishing its Orthodontic school.
Dr. Alexander was a captain in the U.S. Army and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics, a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the Tweed Foundation for Orthodontic Research.
He is survived by his wife, Jane (Talcove) of Palm Coast, Fla.; son John and his wife Jennifer of St. Augustine, Fla., son Paul of Palm Coast, Fla.; and sister Eleanor White of Sunnyvale, Calif. He was the brother of the late Dr. Greg Alexander and Ruth Labins.
