MARBLEHEAD — Police want the public’s help in identifying the culprits who are defacing town property.
The Department of Public Works has reported three instances in the last month of signs regarding dogs at Fort Beach on Front Street have been damaged. Someone is scratching out the wording on the signs after they’ve been installed.
These signs have also previously been vandalized when someone smeared excrement on them.
Damaging public property is a felony, police said.
“In addition, it’s a waste of taxpayer dollars having to repeatedly replace the damaged signs and the workers’ time to complete the work,” police said in a statement.
