LYNN — Gunshots were reported near Chatham Street and Oakwood Avenue Sunday morning.
Officers responded at about 3:20 a.m. and found shell casings. Police also received a call to go into a Chatham Street apartment, where they found a married couple, a 30-year-old man and 27-year-old woman, who said two bullets went through their windows into their wall, Lynn Police Lt. Rick Donnelly said.
Witnesses told police that a motor vehicle had been driving erratically down Chatham Street, with its front passenger firing rounds up into the air out the window. Ten shell casings were found on the street, Donnelly said.
“Luckily no one was hurt,” he said.
The incident is under investigation and no arrests have been made, but police think it may be a random act. The suspect vehicle is a type of SUV, Donnelly said.
