Gannon Ladies hold first major of 2016

LYNN — The Gannon Ladies Innerclub held its first major tournament of the season, the Spring Four-Ball, on June 4-5 and 11-12 at Gannon Golf Course.

The tournament consisted of two person teams, with a one-day qualifier and 16 teams looking to move onto the eight-team match play on the second day.

On day two, the No. 8 team of Patty Roderick and Linda Corbett beat the top-seeded team of Gina Mantino and Carol Mills, 1-up, on the 18th hole.

The seventh-seed team of Ann Dawson and Sue Don beat the second-seeded team of Lorraine Mills and Kathy Jauron, 2-up, on the 17th hole.

The third-seeded team Nancy Patten and Colleen Richards beat the sixth-seeded team of Gail Conlon and Elaine Faithful, 2-up on, the 17th hole.

The fifth-seeded team of Joyce Agganis and Pat Ryback beat No. 4 Mary Hunt and Julie Lombara, 1-up, on the 18th hole.

Four teams moved on to play the weekend of June 11-12 in the semifinals and finals.

Roderick and Corbett beat Agganis and Ryback after going 21 holes to go to the finals. Dawson and Don beat Patten and Richards, going 20 holes to play against Roderick and Corbett for the Championship.

Roderick and Corbett won the Tournament on the 14th hole going 5 and 4. Patten and Richards beat Agganis and Ryback for third place on the 16th hole going 3 and 2.
