Four of last fall’s Item football All-Stars will play in Saturday’s 38th Shriner’s game (4 p.m.) at Cawley Stadium in Lowell.
All four players are on the North roster. They are Oliver Eberth and Jack Lambert from St. John’s Prep, Doug Santos of Peabody, and Cody Mullen of Bishop Fenwick. Santos was The Item/Agganis Foundation Offensive Player of the Year.
The Aleppo Shriners, along with the Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association, is sponsoring the game. The 100 players invited to play in the game represent 68 Massachusetts high schools throughout the state. In addition to the game, 75 all-star cheerleaders will perform during the game, and the Shrine Uniformed Units will participate in the on-field ceremonies.
Westford Academy’s Adam Gagne is this year’s North head coach, while Ken LaChapelle of Northbridge High School, will coach the South squad. LaChapelle has coached at Norbridge for 40 years, and his 340 wins are the most in the state’s high school football history.
