School’s almost out, beaches are open and everyone is looking for a way to cool off. Whether you prefer an ice cream cone or a slush, there are lots of great spots on the North Shore to enjoy a refreshing treat.
Wyoma Dairy Twirl
Wyoma Dairy Twirl is a small but delicious spot. It is located on 237 Broadway in Lynn, near Wyoma Square. This is a great place to grab a refreshing ice cream on the way to Lynn Beach. Hours: Monday- Saturday 11:30 a.m. – 11 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Treadwell’s Ice Cream
One of the best local spots around, you can find a line flowing far out the shop’s door on summer nights. From frappes to cones and not to mention every topping you could want, Treadwell’s has been satisfying customers since the business was revived in 2000. The family-owned establishment not only serves delicious ice cream but helps the community by supporting local schools, organizations and youth. It is located at 46 Margin St., Peabody. Hours: Monday- Saturday: 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Sunday: 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Something Sweet
Something Sweet is a family-run business at297 Lynn St., Peabody. Not only do they serve Richardson’s ice cream, but also Winfrey’s assorted fudge and chocolates. You can get a hot fudge sundae or a nice cold slush. Hours: Monday- Thursday: 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. and Friday-Sunday: noon – 8 p.m.
Artie’s Place Restaurant and Dairy Bar
Artie’s Place is a great spot for ice cream on a hot day to eat on the outdoor benches. Also accompanied by a full restaurant on the inside, Artie’s is easy to find and perfect for breakfast, lunch or dessert. It is located on 117 Lynnfield St., Peabody. Hours: Monday-Saturday: 5:30 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Sunday: 7:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Kell’s Kreme
Kell’s Kreme is a beach-side ice cream bar at 437 Revere Beach Blvd., Revere. This is the perfect place to get something cold and enjoy a day on the sand. Hours: Monday- Sunday: 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Madina Pizza
Located at 468 Chestnut St., Lynn, Madina has a large menu of pizza, subs and pasta. Connected to the restaurant is an outdoor ice cream window with your choice of soft-serve or hard ice creams. This is a great spot for dinner and a dessert. Hours: Sunday- Thursday: 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. and Friday- Saturday: 11 a.m. – 12 a.m.
Zinga
Zinga is a frozen yogurt business, providing a delicious and healthy alternative to ice cream. With more than 40 flavors, they serve non-fat, low-fat, gelato and greek yogurts. It is at 139 Lynnfield St., Peabody in the Plaza. Hours: Sunday- Thursday: 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Friday- Saturday: 11 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Richardson’s
The famous Richardson’s has something for everyone. From a dairy farm to freshly made ice cream or mini-golf and the batting cages, this is the perfect summer spot. You can find any flavor you’re looking for here with new ones being created all the time. It is located at 156 S. Main St., Middleton. Hours: Sunday- Thursday: 9 a.m.- 9:30 p.m. and Friday-Saturday: 9 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Soc’s Ice Cream
Soc’s is a great roadside ice cream stand. You can get big portions for reasonable prices. It is located at 67 Lynn Fells Parkway, Saugus, before Bellevue Golf Club.Hours: Monday- Sunday 12 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Lime Rickey’s
Right on Devereux Beach, you can grab an ice cream or one of their infamous lime rickeys. This is a great spot for refreshments and snacks while enjoying a day in the sun. It is located at 105 Ocean Ave., Marblehead. Hours: Monday-Sunday: 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
