LYNN — A 13-year-old Lynn boy has died after being pulled from Walden Pond at the Lynn Woods Reservation Sunday by emergency crews responding to a possible drowning.
The teen was taken to Union Hospital where he was pronounced dead, said Carrie Kimball Monahan, spokeswoman for the Essex County District Attorney’s office.
State Police from the DA’s office are investigating the apparent drowning death and no foul play is suspected, Monahan said.
Lynn District Fire Chief Stephen Archer said Lynn and Saugus Fire and Police Departments, along with Atlantic Ambulance responded to the call at 1:55 p.m. He estimated that the teen was submerged in the water for about 25 to 30 minutes before being pulled out.
Archer said rescue crews made the dives from a boat, as the teen was about 25 feet off the shore. He had been swimming with a group of friends.
“He went down and they called 911,” Archer said.
