No more pencils, no more books. No more teacher’s dirty looks.

Students in the Swampscott School District and Marblehead Public Schools were set free for the summer on Friday.

Clarke, Hadley and Stanley elementary schools held a graduation ceremony for fourth-graders Friday, while Swampscott Middle School hosted a Recognition Night for its eighth grade students Thursday.

Saugus and Peabody schools closed on June 21.

For Lynn Public Schools, the last day of classes will be Monday.

Veterans Memorial Elementary School in Saugus will hold a four-week Elementary Enrichment Olympic-themed summer program, beginning July 5. A special education summer program will also take place at the Veterans School, from July 5 to Aug 12.

Summer reading programs through the Saugus Public Library will be available for students in kindergarten through grade eight. A Kick-Off to Summer Reading event will feature Alicia Quintano, a local storyteller, followed by frozen yogurt. Quintano will present her “7th Inning Stretch” family sing-a-long program Monday at 4 p.m., and Orange Leaf Yogurt will provide treats from 5 to 6 p.m.

While children enjoy eight weeks of freedom, July is packed with local activities to keep them busy.

Lynn Parks and Recreation will host a variety of summer sports clinics, including tennis, basketball, golf and track.

A free, four-week junior golf clinic will be held at Gannon Municipal Golf Course, beginning Monday, July 11. The clinic runs for an hour on Mondays until Aug 1. There’s no age limit for children.

A basketball clinic at Gallagher Park on Hurd Street will be offered to children 10 and over. The tutorial will begin July 5 and run every Monday and Tuesday from 3-5 p.m. until July 28.

There will also be a youth tennis clinic at the Breed Middle School complex from July 5 to 27, and a six-week, Monday evening track clinic at Manning Field, beginning July 11.

YMCAs in Lynn, Peabody and Saugus also offer summer camps for children that include swimming, gymnastics and other activities.
