Lynn’s 15-year-old Babe Ruth baseball team made some noise in the District 1 15-year-old All-Star tournament at World Series Park in Saugus this weekend, beating Swampscott-Nahant, 11-1, Saturday before cruising to a 9-1 win over Peabody Sunday.
Four pitchers combined to limit Swampscott-Nahant to just three hits Saturday, with Christian Burt getting the start. Lynn exploded for five runs in the first inning, with Aedon Leydon (single, RBI), Dayshon Anderson (double, 2 RBI) and Anthony Nikolakakis (single, RBI) getting the big hits.
Sunday, it was much of the same story. Three consecutive walks in the first inning brought up David Barnard, who also drew a free pass and forced home a run. That opened the floodgates for Lynn, which scored five in the first and four in the fourth. Barnard got the start for Lynn and went four strong innings.
In other District 1 15-year-old All-Stars action, Danvers topped Marblehead, 8-7, on Saturday. Sunday, Saugus shut out Swampscott-Nahant, 3-0.
Lynn will take on a fellow unbeaten team in Saugus, Tuesday at 5:30 at World Series Park.
