The North Shore Navigators got their second win in a row on Wednesday night as they took down the Worcester Bravehearts, 4-2, in their first matchup of the season.
Alex Brickman (Siena College) had a monster game for the Navigators. In a sort of homecoming for the former Worcester Academy standout, he hit two home runs that were absolute blasts. Both went over the left-field fence for his first two homers of the year.
Cole O’Connor (Dartmouth) had a superb game on the mound for the Navigators. It took O’Connor only 85 pitches to work through seven innings, and he struck out three Bravehearts. He held the Bravehearts scoreless through six before he gave up two runs in the seventh.
Following O’Connor’s effort, Sean O’Neill (Brandeis University) came in and pitched the final two innings. O’Neill allowed two base runners in total and was credited with a save.
The newest member of the Navigators, RJ Warnock of Ave Maria University, impressed in his second game with the team. Warnock went 1-4 on the night but picked up both an RBI and a run scored on the night. His season batting average now stands at .375.
The Navigators will return to action on Thursday, June 30 when they take on the Torrington Titans in Connecticut. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The Navigators will return to Fraser Field on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. when they take on the Brockton Rox. It will be their special Salute to the Red, White, and Blue game, and there will be a fireworks display after the game.
