SWAMPSCOTT — A mom had a baby in an unexpected way at her Burrill Street home Sunday.
Swampscott Fire Captain Mark Ryan said the call came in at about 7:20 a.m. and the mother, whose identity he did not know, gave birth to baby Leo about seven minutes later.
Performing the delivery were medics, Mariko Weston and Jim Mackey from Atlantic Ambulance.
The boy was born healthy, and the new parents brought him to Beverly Hospital after his birth. The mother was about a week overdue, Ryan said.
“As far as we both know, both mother and child were doing well,” he said.
Ryan said the situation was uncommon. It was his “first assistance with a delivery like that.”
