PEABODY — A 67-year-old Swampscott man is facing multiple drug charges following a traffic stop on Tuesday morning.
Peabody Sgt. Brendan O’Brien was on patrol near Lowell and Endicott streets when he pulled over Byron Vorgeas of 1008 Paradise Road in Swampscott for a motor vehicle violation.
After an investigation, Vorgeas was arrested and charged with four counts of possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute, according to Peabody Police Captain Dennis Bonauito.
Police found cocaine, crack cocaine, methadone and Suboxone as well as drug packaging materials and cash, Bonauito said.
“This was very thorough and observant police work by Sgt. O’Brien and the other officers and detectives who assisted,” Bonauito said. “The Peabody Police Department is diligently addressing the drug problems that exist not only in our community but in our neighboring communities.”
