Lynn’s 15-year old Babe Ruth baseball team had the hot bats early on and kept the scoring going, getting the win over Peabody in a 7-1 win.
Aedon Leydon was sent home on single by David Barnard, who later scored off a walk with the bases loaded. Kevin Durant and Danny Lilja also got home with the bases loaded in the second.
Lynn was also formidable on defense, preventing Peabody’s base runners from getting too far.
Peabody, on the other hand, suffered from inconsistent defense, with few big-play innings to help its effort.
“We did what we had to do to win our first game,” said Lynn manager Leon Elwell.
Lynn will take to the field again today at 10 a.m. against Chelmsford.
