PEABODY — Peabody’s urban oasis returns on Tuesday.
The annual farmers market kicks off its 14th summer season in front of City Hall on July 12 from 1-6 p.m. This year’s market offers a mix of new and returning vendors.
“We always love to see the vendors coming back, and we’re also excited to see new vendors and we hope everyone supports them,” said Lucia DelNegro, conservation agent at the city’s Community Development & Planning department.
Penny and Peter Srybny of Hereford Valley Farm in Andover will offer a variety of produce from their family market stand. The grower will offer tomatoes, corn, cucumbers, zucchini, summer squash, lettuce, a variety of beans, basil, pea pods, apples, peaches, watermelon, fresh honey and more.
“They have a very loyal following and they are always busy,” DelNegro said. “Everyone always wants to set up next to them.”
Among the new vendors include Crave Cafe and Bakery in Beverly.
“We’re interested in the Peabody Farmers Market because we’re trying to broaden our clientele to all local North Shore cities,” said Ken Feldman, co-owner and chef. “We’re huge supporters of shopping local and small. We feel as though farmers markets are the perfect place to get that type of publicity.”
Other vendors taking part in the market this year include Buddy Boy BBQ, Esperanza Soap Co., Kristin’s Soap, Artisan Ices and Creams and Mini Mun Chi’s.
On opening day, North Shore 104.9 Radio will offer promotional items.
The Ipswich River Watershed Association will be on hand on Aug. 9 and Sept. 6, and the Commonwealth Learning Center will holding free children’s mad lib games on Aug. 16 and 30 and Sept. 13 and 27.
