LAWRENCE — A Saugus mother pleaded guilty to raping two boys in Lawrence Superior Court on Monday.
Heather Salines, 40, was sentenced to four years at Framingham State Prison to be followed by three years probation.
She was charged with two counts of child rape, two counts of child enticement, two counts of dissemination of obscene matter to a minor and assault and battery on a person 14 or over.
During her probation, Salines must have no contact with the victims, no unsupervised contact with those under 16, register as a sex offender and be placed on GPS monitoring.
Her defense attorney, William Korman, said his client is exceptionally sorry for the pain she has caused everyone, especially her family.
“My client is happy to put this matter behind her,” he said.
Prosecutors said that in February 2014, Salines called one of the victims, 14 at the time and a guest at her home, into her bedroom, removed her bra and began to kiss and fondle him. She repeatedly asked to perform oral sex on him. After he left, she sent him numerous text messages, which included naked photographs of herself. The victim didn’t respond to the texts and did not go back to her home, prosecutors said.
In March 2014, Salines started texting with another victim, 15 at the time, which also included sending naked photographs of herself. She engaged in oral sex and intercourse with him on two occasions, including once at a hotel on the Danvers/Middleton line. There, the victim and Salines took a “selfie” while in bed together. Officials at Belmonte Middle School learned of the explicit pictures of Salines on the victim’s phone and told police, prosecutors said.
“These actions are beyond despicable,” said Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett in a statement. “This defendant took advantage of her position as a trusted adult and betrayed that trust in a most vile way.”
Before the sentencing, Essex Assistant District Attorney Kate MacDougall read a statement from one of the victims, who is not being identified as the Item doesn’t name victims of sexual assault. He was dating Salines’ daughter at the time of the sexual interaction with her mother.
“(She) was convinced that sexual activity with me was okay,” the victim wrote about Salines.
He wrote that the incident has affected him in many ways and is something he thinks about every day. The victim wrote that the relationships with people in his life were ruined and many people thought he was in the wrong. His grades declined. The only positive in the situation, he wrote, was that he was able to get help and learn that what happened wasn’t his fault.
Elsewhere, the sentencing for the Saugus Snapchat sexual assault case is scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m. in Salem Superior Court. In July, Rashad Deihim, now 21, and Kailyn Bonia, now 20, were found guilty of raping a drunk and drugged 16-year-old girl in the woods behind Waybright Elementary School in 2014. Another teen recorded the incident and shared it on Snapchat, a popular messaging app.
